How does being based in the UK influence your creations?
Our games are all about history worldwide, except for LONDON and KINGS & QUEENS, which are as British as you’d expect! However, we always see the world looking out from a UK standpoint: Viewing history from a British perspective asks that we look across the world to all walks of life, cultures and national identities. After all, the impact of Britain on the world – and vice versa - through Empire, exploration, and everything else, has been immensely impactful: both good and bad. Our global approach, celebrating historical characters from across the world, is very much a part of this outlook.

Why was it important for you to work ethically/sustainably?
Why wouldn’t you?! All around us are signs that we need to protect our planet and people. I know we could make more money if we went for cheaper materials and made them in a country with cheaper manufacturing costs, but our products are all about enjoyment, enhancement and education so it would feel very odd not to be taking the same enhancement approach to making our games.

Tell us something most people don’t know about how your products are made.
We are very proud that our games are researched, designed and made in the UK by a small, passionate team. We love history and learning and we want all our customers to share that feeling with us when they play the games.
What’s your happy place in London?
That’s easy: the South Bank. I love everything that it offers – the river, bags of history, theatre, art galleries, shopping, great food AND Waterloo station, which means I can pop on a train back home in Hampshire very easily! A close second would be The Tower of London... so much astonishing history held by those walls, and you can also grab yourself a History Heroes card game or two in the gift shop!
What’s the best uniquely British gift a visitor could bring home?
Well: obviously our LONDON or KINGS & QUEENS game…Yorkshire Tea (a brand) and Marmite!! Picture yourself with the best cup of tea, Marmite on toast and your very own History Heroes Card Game whilst you have fun and learn a little too: the perfect combination!
