London in porcelain: The characters and scenes of Helen Beard

Helen fell in love with clay whilst studying Jewellery Design at the Edinburgh College of Art. She developed her own method of drawing and painting on to clay, using a form of relief print.

An apprenticeship with the celebrated potter and writer, Edmund de Waal, introduced her to porcelain, still her medium of choice.

By grouping my pots together, I like to tell a story - creating whimsical scenes that capture the small yet precious moments that make up our daily lives.

Helen’s 'Dailyware' range is designed and made in England. We love her work because the artwork is wonderful and looks hand-painted. The superb quality of her porcelain makes even an egg cup feel elegant!

Currently we are selling, her ceramic tiles: 1.Taxi  2.Fox 3.Tower Bridge 4.St. Paul's, as well as the London Life organic linen tea towel.
